Health Tips from a Conference Junkie

Are you a conference junkie? Well, I am. I love learning new things and going to conferences. The only problem is, sometimes my legs stick to the chair.

My legs stick to the chair because I am sitting TOO much. That can even make me tired with backaches or headaches just because I am not moving enough.

I finally came up with a great solution that really works for me and maybe it can help you. I climb the stairs… The last conference I attended was in a 5 story building.

I was not wearing my high heels when I took the stairs because I keep a pair of flats available just for this type of activity, maybe even walking shoes. When I get to the top, I take my pulse. It was up to 125/minute.

Then I take a cool-down walk in the hall of the top floor before I descending the stairs to the very bottom floor. This is a somewhat restful phase, however, my heart rate stays well above resting.

When I get to the bottom floor, I take my pulse again just to compare and begin the ascent to the 5th floor again. By this time, I have generated a skin-pore-cleansing round of perspiration. I am usually breathing a lot heavier too. I repeat this cycle five to six times and find a lot more energy to learn and remember. .

By the way, when you get to the exit door at the bottom of the staircase, there is usually a surveillance camera. Be sure to smile when you get there. Smiling not only increases your “face” value, it burns more calories!

Blessings,
